'what to use' wednesday: play

I think it's been a while since I've actually done a 'What To Use' Wednesday page. And once again, it's a one-hour page! Even though I've been trying to scrap simply, they still seem to take a couple hours to do...and I don't like that. ;) It's suppose to be about doing it quickly because I don't have time, right?

For this page, I pulled out my Creating Keepsakes' 'Just For Fun' Kit of the Month. Have you guys seen this yet? Bought it? It has so much stuff in it! Definitely worth the money!

This page was truly a 'What To Use' page. I pulled the paper, brad and "Play" sticker from the kit, grabbed a little 7gypsies gaffer tape and word stickers, and then rummaged my Silhouette test-cut pile and found that little circle thing-a-ma-bob to put under the large brad. This is the shape I used (circles_1580):

I also did my usual photo pocket with the index tab, that I like to do so often. I love tucking away journaling, keeping it handy, yet out of the way from the overall look for the page. Oh, and those giant brads have several clear stickers with white or black printing to customize the brad to fit your page color needs. Pretty nifty! I'm tellin' ya, that kit is pretty darn cool! It's got a 7x12" clear album, transparencies, rub ons . . . holy cow, the list goes on and on!

And in case you were wondering what the heck the girls were doing in the bottom-right photo? For some reason they decided to start smelling mint leaves. That turned into "facial hair". Then Jordan said if you sniff it hard enough then it smelled like b.o. Yeah, that made them all laugh pretty hard. Oh, and if you look at my girls between the two pages, you'll notice they got new "do's". Kass cut hers shorter and chunkier and Jordan? Well, she has bangs for the first time ever. Well, unless you count the time she cut her hair when she was three. ;) With her naturally curly hair, I wasn't about to let her have bangs until she could take care of them herself.

Wow, two weeks with multiple pages? What's next??? Maybe I need to buy a lottery ticket...I'm feeling lucky. ;)

'what to use' wednesday: erin's christmas frame

Okay, so since I'm incredibly busy at this time of year, as I'm sure you all are too, I just couldn't swing a page for this week. So instead, I asked Erin Lincoln if I could post these couple pictures of her holiday frame using December's KOTM: Little Stories. I loved loved loved this! What a great idea! I'm tellin' ya, this girl is too creative for words! You can read more about the frame in her post here.You rock girlfriend!

project 365 and a winner!

First of all, congratulations to Lara, the winner of Donna Downey's book, who wrote:

I suggest checking her blog out every day because there's no telling what she might share!

a peek at december's kotm: little stories

Hey all! I thought I'd give you a little peek at the new CK KOTM for December! It's called Little Stories. There isn't a picture on the website just yet, but hopefully it will be there on Monday. I was given permission to show them, so show them I shall! :)

This kit includes 12 4" blank chipboard books and storage box for you to decorate with oodles and oodles of pre-cut paper, stickers, alphabets, journaling cards, ribbon, the list goes on and on . . . You can use it for highlights for the year, highlights on your children, favorite destinations, give them away as gifts . . . again, the list goes on and on. One idea to note, since these are chipboard books and fit into a storage box, it is best to keep the pages fairly flat dimension-wise.

The lovely Miss Nichol Magouirk created these amazing pages. I think she used a flourish stamp with it. Loved how it turned out using that. You should check out her "Journal Your Christmas" project. Way cute! I think I see a few Graphically Speaking items there too Miss Nichol! ;)

'what to use' wednesdays: good stuff

Okay folks. As usual, life has been super crazy, but that's okay because it allows me the opportunity to do some simple pages that I've been wanting to do for a long time! I've had this photo of our little shopping excursion for over a year. I see it constantly because of its location in a general directory I use all the time. It's such a fun and cute photo, one that I would normally not know what to do scrapping-wise. It brings back lots of memories of just hanging out with these amazing women all day brainstorming and then going shopping at some antique stores and a really cool home dec store in Midway, Utah. I am really glad that I've started this girlfriend moments scrapbook! I can whip up a page in no time and have a place to remember those one-photo moments with great friends.

For this page almost everything is from the KOTM: Photo Folders! It came together so quickly too! My favorite part of this kit are the transparency strips, not to mention the really cute paper...and ribbon...and embossed photo corners...tags...oh, and the albums...I could go on and on...or did I already? ;) I also used a 7gypsies journaling tag.

Anyway, that's it for me today. I think I need to start on that "clean the office" goal...again.LOL

In memoriam . . . no wait, in honor . . . noooo . . . how ‘bout in celebration of a job I used to have and continued support of my dear friend Lisa Bearnson, I thought I’d do a little QVC giveaway of a KI Love Elsie kit! Such fun stuff! You’ll "love" it! There’s chipboard buttons, journaling spots, alphabets, and other fun stickers—and there are three color palettes too!

Here’s my page I made with it. I can't seem to get out of that simple phase. 'what to use' wednesdays: birthday fun

First I just wanted to say thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a good day. Jordan made me breakfast (I was already up). I had a KOTM meeting and since Loni is smart enough to always carry a camera, we took a picture of the KOTM team (shown below: me, Viv, Loni and Dana) minus our amazing graphic designer, Lori Whitlock. She was there by conference call . . . maybe we should have taken a picture of the phone. ;)

After our meeting, Viv, Loni and Ana (part of the web team) all went to the ever-delicious Cafe Rio, where we hooked up with the one and only Kristy Banks. Good friends, good food, good conversation, what else could a girl ask for? These guys are all amazing friends and I just love them dearly.

Then in the evening the fam went out to dinner with Dan's parents to Pizza Factory to celebrate both our birthdays.

Just a nice, lovely day.

I've wanted to make a small album of just friend moments that I've had through the years, so this What To Use Wednesday page is the start of it, which is why it's 8x8. Items used: MME paper, Daisy D's monogram, Autumn Leaves rub-ons (numbers) KOTM: Mix It Up chipboard parenthesis, American Crafts brads (love these because they are flat!), and a Heidi Swapp chipboard bookplate.

 

Loni took the top picture using the "long arm out in front" approach (Viv and Ana had left). A nice passerby offered to take the photo for us, however, I look thinner in this one . . . and it's all about me on my birthday and "thinner" always wins out. :) And speaking of thin, notice how we are all trying to hide behind sweet little Viv in the bottom photo? I felt like one of those cartoons where about five characters are all hiding behind the telephone pole and you can't see them until they poke their head out. Yeah . . . like that. ;)
